This is the 6th piece in a collaborative project with DC-based, Nigerian-American photographer Adedayo “Dayo” Kosoko. In this series, called Tiffany x Dayo, I chose an assortment of photos he took and drew them in my style. This is one of my favorites from the batch, view the rest over here.

Alongside Adedayo’s captivating Medusa photoshoot, he shared the model’s theory on Medusa’s origins, where she symbolizes a fear of African spirituality, allure, and power; specifically, a warning of a Black woman whose demonized looks and charm could turn men into stone. Inspired by all of this, I wanted to illustrate the gorgon priestess owning her natural beauty, strength, and ferocity. Aim to be unapologetically yourself, celebrate your power within, and stay fierce in the face of oppression. This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve done.
